Why Locals Love Lola Coffee
Nestled in the vibrant heart of downtown Phoenix, Lola Coffee is much more than your typical coffee shop—it’s a spirited sanctuary for coffee lovers and urban creatives alike. Located at 1001 N 3rd Ave #6, this charming café/store effortlessly blends a hip, artsy atmosphere with exceptional coffee craftsmanship, making it a must-visit spot for locals and visitors craving a genuine downtown experience.
What sets Lola Coffee apart is its diverse and carefully curated beverage menu. Whether you’re an espresso purist savoring the intense, velvety espresso ($3.50) or prefer the rich creaminess of a cappuccino ($4.00) or a perfectly balanced cortado ($3.75), each cup promises a moment of pure delight. For those who cherish variety, offerings like the Matador, Cafe Borgia, or the subtly sweet Cafe Caramel invite exploration beyond the usual coffee fare. Non-coffee drinkers will find comfort in thoughtfully prepared chai, dirty chai, or a soothing hot or iced tea, all served with care and consistently praised by patrons.
The café’s inviting ambiance strikes a perfect balance between cozy and dynamic, making it ideal for both contemplative solo visits and lively catch-ups with friends. As Christopher Stagner highlights, the "perfect hip/arts vibe" combined with attentive baristas creates many memorable moments. Sitting on the outdoor patio on Roosevelt Avenue, you can indulge in excellent people-watching while soaking in the creative energy of downtown Phoenix—a sensory experience that feels intimate yet connected to the pulse of the city.
Real customer voices paint a vivid picture of Lola’s charm. Heather Washere calls it a “cute little place” perfect for a quick coffee and snack, while Chelsea Faber appreciates the staff’s efficiency—even during busy times—ensuring your latte is never long in coming, maintaining top-notch quality every visit. The in-house bakery adds a flavorful touch to the visit, with Karen Renata raving about the freshly made sandwiches and baked goods that pair delightfully with their coffee selections. While some find the pastries “just okay,” the overwhelming consensus celebrates the beverages as the undeniable highlight.
Further enhancing the local feel, Lola’s tucked-away back patio offers an urban oasis where one can escape the desert’s vast openness, enjoying the hum of city life—fans whirring, city skyscrapers watching over you, creating a distinctly Phoenix experience. This cozy spot is ideal for those who appreciate a nuanced sensory backdrop, as noted by msbusyblonde’s fondness for the quiet yet vibrant setting paired with standout items like the Matador coffee.
For anyone visiting or residing in downtown Phoenix, Lola Coffee isn’t just a stop for caffeine—it’s a destination where the art of coffee meets communal warmth and urban culture. Whether you're fueling a busy day or seeking a moment of calm with a delicious drink in hand, Lola Coffee promises a richly authentic, comforting, and memorable experience.

Cute little place to stop for a cup of coffee and a snack. I got the chai and it was a solid 8/10. They get busy so be prepared to sit outside or grab to go.

Fun local coffee shop with a “friends” vibe! The in house bakery makes the baked goods and sandwiches… YUM! MANY coffee and tea choices and options. Definitely a hip crowd! If you’re in downtown Phoenix - go have fun and enjoy!

I’m really impressed with the efficiency of the baristas here. Even with there is a line out the door, I’ve never had to wait more than a couple minutes for my drink after ordering. The lattes are always done well, and the servers are always friendly. I will say the pastries aren’t AMAZING, just ok, but I’m focusing my score on the beverages.

I picked this stop because I liked the look and feel of the tucked away back patio. I live north of town in the desert so I enjoyed the feel of being in town... listening to the fan whir at the laundromat next door and seeing the tall city buildings in view. I enjoyed the cheese and potato pastry, although a bit dry (as most non-made in house items get). The Matador coffee is one of the best coffees I've had in a while. I think after so many trendy and gimmicky drinks that I've had over time, the Matador was a comfy reminder of why coffee is good.

Cute coffee shop with classic coffee selections, pastries. and breakfast burritos. I really like that you can make your own custom burrito. Good breakfast option in neighborhood for vegetarians or vegans.

My boyfriend and I got their fall flavor coffees, pecan pie latte and the pumpkin blanco. I i wouldn't say that mine tasted like a pumpkin pie, but it was decent it's not very sweet it is more coffee forward. My boyfriend's pumpkin latte was really good though.Very on the sweet side, especially cuz. It's made with white mocha. The whipped cream is so interesting. It's like a Brown whipped cream. And when you taste it, it has sort of a Brown sugar flavor which is perfect for fall. We'll definitely try again

I like this coffee shop! I came here for a good ambience while studying. It feels like the feeling of studying in a living room. Warm sunlight comes in. It’s quiet, a good change of scenery. Feels a tad groovy, it’s unique. The chairs are really comfortable which is important at coffee shops. The coffee is good, good flavor.
